It's the end of the world as we know it
...and I feel like crap
Well, as things seemed to be getting resolved, that's when the crap hits the fan.
Well, the Orcs were invading everyone and have recently backed off.
Unfortunately, they left Ishayle in ruins, so Venna's citizens were moved
to the top of a nearby plateau. Randi and Raquel both left for more
exciting ventures.
Gray has been working hard at getting stuff resolved and succeeding rather
well. Vendrill is cured and his settlement is growing rather prosperous.
He and Raquel made their way to Malfestus to herald the coming cure, but Gray
found himself in a Fairy circle deep in the woods. He was there for DAYS
without food or water and was finally rescued by the keeper of that part
of the woods. After being nursed back to health, Gray and Raquel gathered
up some resourced, visited Vorren who was now healed from a large battle, and
they all took a trek up north to Kakkas. The new keeper of the shrine is a dick, but
everyone else is still doing rather well. They headed off to find Venna's
palace again, and only Raquel found it. It was fading and leaving. She
saw Venna, her Goddess and Grandmother who told her that now that the God of Creation
is upon this plane once again, she must go to heaven forever. This is her last
day here in this world. Her father, the God of Creation, is harsh and
unforgiving - he would bring his wrath upon the people below in order to punish
Venna for being so bold as to be here on this Earth. However, as she departed,
she left Raquel with a prophecy. One that was for that very same day!
Tonight in the city of Kings,
A baby would be born unto death...
(I forget the rest, but it was all about to happen that night)
So Gray and Raquel and Vorren head back to Gray's settlement to try to contact
Barrett Durn. We pretty much figured that Urn was the place it was going to happen.
They were practically the last city left in Satile that hasn't been totally destroyed by the
hoards of Malfestians gone mad by the pull of the Everbeast. Urn has
so many protections in it, Gray had to fork up his relic ring that he found
from a bazillionth-level Orc Mage to get us through their wards and barriers.
Once inside, we posed as healers to get close to the battle and gather up
information.
Pretty soon later, the prophecy came to light. A baby was born of a dead woman on a corpse-cart
just outside the healing tent. Gray headed immediately to where Carey Billingsford was
supposed to be. The Ever Beast was going to come together!
Vorren and Raquel left immediately as explosions and fire elementals rose out
of the very earth to feast upon the lives there. The Malfestians were rendered
dumb for a time as the concentration of the cause of their madness was
re-directed.
Joining in on this battle was Forlumb, Ras Mar, The Watcher, Sylph, Kage and a few
other hard-hitters. They were preparing a cannon to destroy it with
shadowflame, kylos and a whole bunch of other stuff. While they did that,
Forgan called upon the Angels of Haltessa to help him fight the hoards of
Evil Zaird and other various villains. He was kicking much butt as were they!
Meanwhile, Gray was as usual, throwing himself full on into the fight.
As he did, he realized that in his whole life, Tarren wasn't his hero,
the everbeast was his hero! He aspired to fight theis truly evil foe
all his life and now he's here - directly facing it! There is no redeeming
qualities to the Everbeast - just evil, hatred and destruction.
In Gray's stream of temporary insanity, he calls the Everbeast by name and fights
him head on! He actually does quite a bit of damage! Normally, that's a
good thing against a foe, but not in this case. The more the ever beast
is wounded, the more power he gains, the more defenses he has and the more
impossible he becomes to defeat. Gray doesn't care though - he wants to
fight him at full power!
Well, the everbeast gets a little sidetracked and is happily staring at the destruction around
him and trees start popping up out of the ground and falling out of the sky and everyone's clear
shot of everyone else is obstructed. Gray snaps out of his insanity and with the help of Venna herself,
somehow manages to avoid being completely incinerated in this apocalypse.
In the end, the everbeast is destroyed and the death toll is about to be counted up.
We know that Katrina Tiershlok, Forgan, Kage and probably Bag Head Man were amongst them.
Raquel and Vorren returnand find that Gray is in fact going to live and eventually recover.
However, he has lost 3 years worth of his memory!!! His mind has returned
to the VERY first adventure! (I knew we should have put more save points in there...)
So, in short, the world was saved from utter destruction, as have MOST of the player characters!
Huzza!
The next campaign is being set up and will take place 100 years in the future (hopefully that will be only in game time).
The characters so far will be a Cantrip-mage, a Ninja Sword-dancer and a Goblin Bard. WEEE!<
