Aloha!
Welcome to the website for my very first attempt at DMing!
I have always held a soft spot in my heart for Hawaii, the 50th state and honeymoon capitol.
Now, I have the opportunity to use the actual culture and mythology from native Hawaii and mix it with
Pirate history and legends. This game should be a fun adventure for all involved.
I want the game to be simple and fun with no pressure on any of the players. I've never run a game before,
and I'm really looking forward to this new opportunity to do so!
The year: In the 1600's(?).
The location: Hawaii (D&D Universe)
The Islands of Tahiki are fairly new to this un-named D&D flavored world and are still for the most part unexplored and wild.
There have been people living on these islands in the middle of the ocean for about 3 generations. Over the past year,
there have been more visitors landing on their tropical shores - mainly Oahu. Pirates, merchants, adventurers and pilgrims have all found
this oasis in the middle of the ocean. The native inhabitants are very happy
to meet and learn from these new visitors. Their Gods, the Akua, have also been warm and welcoming for the most part.
Along the shores of Oahu are many villages. One in particular is home to both little Pono and the priestess Maylea. Her distant relative, Maka Koa has been sent to Oahu to protect the young Puea who lives in that same village. He is a young, blind albino boy who is said to have visions of the future. Something he said is what brought about the arrival of Maka Koa. Along his way, he encountered his old time friend, Moali'i, the shark king who lives on Moloka'i. He agreed to accompany him to Oahu. once they were in view of the island, they saw a large sailing ship, the likes of which they had never seen before.
Upon that ship was Aragan. He had been aboard with his 4 other crew members for six weeks and was happy to see land. When the canoe with Maka Koa approached their ship, it was realized that language was a great barrier between the cultures.
Luckily, back on the shore, Pono and his older brother Kane'akamai DID know how to speak this new foreign tongue. After their earlier surfing lessons, they swam out to meet with this ship to become the village embassadors.
Meanwhile, on the south shores of the island, Kookalotta Peeple and his Witch Doctor companion Makaha arrived from their week long journey from Maui. They saw another one of these giant sailing canoes that had run aground and could hear the people within, but there was no way to get inside. They headed up the beach to find a village that may help them. Upon reaching that village, they became guests to an afternoon luau of sorts. There were ritual hula dancers and many non-native looking people that came in on their big canoes. Maylea was one of the hula dancers there to represent and worship her volcano goddess Pele. After the dancing, the feasting began. Maylea, being the flirty young woman she is, hit it off very well with the suave Privateer, Aragan. Maka Koa and Pono had much to learn from eachother and began this journey almost immediately. Kookalotta Peeple and Makaha noticed the new stranger drawing a picture in the sand that looked like the sail on the big canoe they found on the beach. Maybe he knew how to get in!
The two cannibals led the way and one of the Pirate women came up on deck to see the commotion. She ran below deck and came back with her twin who held Aragan at crossbow point for a bit. They didn't have who he was looking for. Still, the Persuasive Privateer didn't believe it. They snuck up on deck and proceeded to make their way below deck. A dog was heard from below deck trying to attack through the door while Aragain (and last minute Maylea) went through the port into the hold. They found a woman there, a half elf (much like Bernadette, the woman Aragan was looking for) but it wasn't her. She was a pirate like the rest, posing as Bernadette to throw him off track. Unfortunately for her, he charmed her into being his friend. She couldn't help herself but tell the truth. Up on deck the rest of the party busted through the door and Maka Koa was wrestling the dog.
But that was the last we heard. Lets hope another bottle floats by with the continuation of this story soon...

SUECHAN'S SUGGESTIONS ON WHERE TO SPEND YOUR BURIED TREASURE:
Hawaiian Magic & Spirituality - by Scott Cunningham. The author
did his research and the book is very thorough. Lots of ancient gods,
types of worship, myths and stories, and even a lunar calendar.
Pirates! Legend of Black Kat for the PlayStation 2 (also made for X-Box). This game is quite fun, though I haven't gotten myself very far at all.
I just love the graphics and the fact that you play a gorgeous, busty
redhead pirate! The vast array of ships is pretty incredible as well.
Pirate Toys.
Start yer youngin's off by learnin' the 3 best letters of the alphabet:
R (Arrrr), I (Aye), and the C (Sea).
Also, hold some money for "Pirates of the Carribbean" coming out this Summer! Mmmm...Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom (Legolas) as pirates!
